Lexi Thompson is playing in the Evian Championship this week in Evian-les-Bains, France. This is the LPGA Tour’s fifth and final major championship of the year and being a major championship, you would think that the course would be in perfect condition.
However, it is apparently not and if the picture Lexi shared on Instagram is not enough proof of that, we don’t know what is.
How can this be considered acceptable at a PROFESSIONAL MAJOR GOLF TOURNAMENT? The local goat track down the street from my house is in better condition than this. pic.twitter.com/DA2KpRK4KV

Seriously, look at that trash? We’re not sure this would be acceptable at many municipal courses around the country.
Thompson has since taken the picture down and shared an apology stating that she was more frustrated with her own play than the course conditions, but she honestly didn’t have to do that. This is unacceptable for professionals at any level to play on. It isn’t a true test of golf skill when you have to play on these types of conditions.
Hi everyone, I want to clear up any confusion from my earlier post. My words were only directed at my frustration of not playing well in a Major and at the unfortunate bounces we all get while playing this crazy game called golf. 😂I didn’t mean it in a mean way at all. Obviously just hasn’t been the course for me the last few years, but some girls are playing great and I wish them the best of luck this weekend! I am truly so thankful for the amazing support of Evain & Rolex and all of the sponsors associated with this event and giving us the opportunity to come here. I also would like to thank all of the volunteers and fans that make this tournament possible!. Evian is a beautiful place and I always enjoy spending time in this part of the world, it just wasn’t meant to be and hey that happens !🤷🏼♀️ I will be out at the course this weekend working on my game, so please come out and support the event and say hello!#Evian #Rolex @evianchamp
