Steph Curry Returning To Ellie Mae Classic

Steph Curry made plenty of headlines off the basketball court last year when he was given, and accepted, a sponsors invitation to play in the Ellie Mae Classic on the Web.com Tour. Well, it looks like he going to return again this year and give it another try.

On Monday, the tournament announced that it will once again be extending a sponsors invitation to Curry to play in the annual Tour stop just outside of San Fransisco. At the time of the event last year, Curry had been only the second pro athlete to ever tee it up in an all pro tournament. Curry went on to shoot rounds of 74-74 to miss the cut, but brought a lot of eyballs to an event that normally would not have recieved much fan fare.

“The players on the Web.com Tour welcomed me with open arms in 2017, and it was an amazing experience to play with up-and-coming PGA Tour stars inside the ropes at TPC Stonebrae,” Curry said in a statement.  “I have been fortunate to be a member of an incredible team in the Golden State Warriors, and I was elated to feel that same level of camaraderie onsite last year. Golf is a game that has provided wonderful experiences in my life, and I am excited to return to the Ellie Mae Classic in August.”

Curry is no stranger to teeting it up in competion. In addition to being a scratch golfer, he has become quite the competior on the celebrity circut as well.

The Ellie Mae Classic will be held August 6-12. Unfortunaltely though for the second year in a row, there is no television coverage planned.
