Changes Coming To CBS Golf Coverage

CBS

With yesterday’s come from behind win by the New England Patriots, CBS has concluded it’s football coverage for the year and can now turn its focus to its upcoming golf coverage.

It’s been no secret that the golf coverage on CBS has been “lacking” for many years with not nearly enough golf being shown and too many commercials. Well, CBS is making some changes to its broadcasts in 2018 in hopes of gaining more fan interest.

While no announcement has been made about cutting back on commercial interruptions, CBS has announced that this year they will feature TrackMan on all 18 tee boxes, just like they did at last year’s PGA Championship. This will give fans more ProTracer which is a huge fan favorite. For more of the “golf nerds” out there (yours truly included), TrackMan on every tee will also provide great insight including ball speed, distance, and curve all in real-time.

We will also be getting a new voice on the broadcasts. Amanda Balionis, who was used sparingly last year by the network predominantly as a post-round interviewer, has signed on as a regular contributor, meaning Balionis become a regular face and voice at the high-tech mobile screen interviewing players after their rounds.

This news, plus the rumors that Tony Romo might be entering the golf booth now that football season is over, means that big new things are on the horizon for CBS golf. Now, if they could just work on showing us all more golf.
