Tiger Woods won’t play in the Players Championship

Tiger Woods announced on Friday that he won’t be in the field next week at The Players Championship. The news is slightly concerning since Tiger chose not to play in either the Honda Classic or the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Woods has already won this season at the ZoZo Championship, his 82nd win, and finished T-9 at the Genesis Open at Torrey Pines. He appears to be taking all precautions to be ready for a defense of his 2019 Masters win.

“The idea is to peak around Augusta time,” Woods said about not playing in Mexico. “I just felt I wasn’t going to be ready for next week, a little run down.”

Does this suck? Sure, but I think we’d all rather see Tiger make a run at Augusta than TPC Sawgrass.
