Summer of Tiger? Don’t Get Your Hopes Up

We all knew that when Tiger finally returned for good from his various injuries and procedures that we would be seeing a “new” Tiger. One of the biggest things that was expected to change was Tiger’s schedule.

While Tiger never played every week even when he was in his prime, over the years he has cut down his schedule even more, usually circling the majors, WGCs, and a few of the bigger regular Tour stops on the calendar. So, with the new, condensed PGA Tour schedule, it was always going to be interesting to see how Tiger was going to manage his schedule, especially over the busy summer months.

It would appear after his T21 finish at this week’s U.S. Open, we now have an answer.

Woods was asked after his final round what his schedule leading up to the Open Championship and it would appear that it will involve a lot of family time and no competitive golf.

While Tiger hasn’t traditionally played the events leading up to the Open, it means that for the second time this year Woods won’t hit a competitive shot in between majors. He did the same thing in between the Masters and PGA Championship, missing the cut at the PGA.

The Open Championship is being held at Royal Portrush July 18-21.
