Jake Owen told a hilarious story about Phil Mickelson and “The Match”

It’s no secret that country star Jake Owen loves golf. Owen has played in the Pebble Beach AT&T Pro-Am alongside Jordan Spieth and openly talks about how he enjoys the game.

Owen appeared on the Barstool Sports’ Foreplay podcast and shared a spectacular story about Phil Mickelson, and because we can’t get enough stories like this about Phil, we’re sharing it here.

Here’s a quick summary of the story:

Owen and Mickelson were both invited to Jordan Spieth’s wedding last year. The wedding took place after “The Match” between Tiger and Phil. Owen, like many, were upset that they paid $29.99 to watch the match and then found out that it was streamed free online. Not to mention the golf that Tiger and Phil played wasn’t the greatest and wasn’t very entertaining.

Owen approached Phil at Spieth’s wedding and jokingly said, “You owe me $29.99,” and continued on to explain that it was not great golf to watch. Phil opened his wallet and took out $100 and told Owen, “I made $90,000 of these yesterday. Take 100 and go f*** yourself.”

Phil later confirmed the story through his own Twitter account, as you can clearly see above.
