I’d love to go with Tiger here considering he’s won at Torrey eight times in his career including a U.S. Open, but he hasn’t played in 2019 and his play at the Hero World Championship wasn’t that great as he finished second to last in the small field event.

Instead, I’m going to pick Jon Rahm.

Rahm won the Hero World Challenge in December and finished T8 at the Tournament of Champions and sixth in the Desert Classic. While he hasn’t won yet this season, it’s clear that he’s already playing quite well.

Who am I picking to win at Torrey Pines? Tiger Woods. Duh. Tell me if you haven’t heard this before … the man has won there EIGHT times! He’s the reason anybody even cares about the Farmers Insurance Open, let alone any event he pegs it. Plus, he knows he can win again. He’s rested, fused and is looking to build toward the majors just like the good old days. Damn, it feels good to type that again! I still can’t believe this is real life. Tiger. Book it.

Like my colleague Two Inches Short, I’m going with the super original pick of Tiger Woods this week too. He pretty much already summed up the main reason, but I feel like this needs to be reiterated. He was won at Torrey Pines EIGHT TIMES. One of those times was on a broken leg. So yea, saying that Tiger is comfortable at Torrey is an understatement. Couple that with the fact that he won the last time he teed it up at a Tour sanctioned event and had some time off to rest and recharge and you’ve got yourself a home run pick. At least I would like to think so.
