CJ Cup Picks

CJ Cup

After taking some time off after the Ryder Cup, it’s time to get back into the swing of things this week with the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges. Fun fact about this event: as you can see from the picture below, the trophy for winning this event isn’t a cup in any capacity.

Now, without further ado, onto who we like this week

Since his “breakout” in 2015 and 2016, Jason Day has been pretty quiet. Sure, he won twice last year, but you can understand how that got lost in the shuffle of Brooks winning two majors and Tiger getting his first win after his comeback. With all that, it feels like Day is coming into the week well under the radar. And, for that exact reason, I’m going to pick him this week. It makes sense too. No-cut event, fall season, low-pressure situation. I think all of that adds up to equal a Jason Day win this week and the return of Dash Day to the winners’ circle with him.

So, even though this is a golf blog and we’re supposed to care about these events, I really don’t care about the CJ and that’s probably because it’s on at ridiculous hours and held on the other side of the globe.

I digress…

Anyways, I guess I’ll take a shot in the dark and go with Billy Horschel. Gator boy finished the season strong at the Tour Championship where he finished second behind El Tigre. Horschel finished T33 at -11 last week at the CIMB.

Good luck to anyone trying to make these picks because it’s a complete stab in the dark.
