As if a 17.5 – 10.5 beat down wasn’t enough, and the Reeds unleashing fury on Jordan Spieth and Jim Furyk … now we’ve learned that Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka nearly threw down on Sunday night after the Ryder Cup ended.
James Corrigan of The Telegraph first reported, and confirmed by Golf Channel’s Tim Rosaforte, the alleged incident involved Johnson and Koepka with Paulina Gretzky and another European palyer’s wife nearby. According to the report, Johnson and Koepka got heated during a team Europe post-Ryder Cup part … no clue why they would be there.
There’s no confirmation of what caused the drama, but Golf Digest mentions that Gretzky was a central figure and Koepka’s girlfriend Jena Sims was also involved to some extent.
A source told Golf Digest that Paulina Gretzky, Johnson’s fiancee, was a central figure in the incident. Koepka’s girlfriend, Jena Sims, was also involved.
Koepka’s agent denied the incident took place (SHOCKING)…
When reached for comment, Koepka’s representation denied the story. “From what I gather I believe someone made this story up,” said Blake Smith, Koepka’s agent. “Nothing to report on our end.” At the time of this article’s publication, Johnson’s agent has not responded to a request for comment.
French newspaper L’Equipe also wrote that Johnson and Koepka had to be separated on the team plane from Atlanta to Paris.
What a mess this has turned into.
If there’s anything we can take away from these two ridiculous stories, it’s that Jim Furyk looks more like a casualty than coach and the team is 100% at fault for their poor play in Europe.
