Wyndham Championship Picks

Man, what a fun Sunday that was! That is going to be a major championship that won’t soon be forgotten. While we aren’t going to forget about Brooks dominating (again), or Tiger nearly getting that first win back, we do need to turn our attention to this week’s regular-season finale. So, without further ado, here’s who we like this week at the Wyndham Championship.

Not going to lie, I am still reveling in the performance that Tiger gave us on Sunday so I haven’t spent much time looking over the tee sheet for this week’s event.

One week after the season’s final major and one week before the start of the playoffs, you will be hard-pressed to find a lot of “big names” out there this week. So, I’m going to take a guy who has a PGA Championship to his name and is teeing it up this week, and that’s Jason Dufner.

Yes, Duf has not recorded a top 10 finish since the PLAYERS and his only top 5 finish was at the team event Zurich Classic, but all those reasons are exactly why I am picking him this week. Golf is a finicky game, and just when you rule someone out they tend to surprise you. Look at all the times a guy has ridden a multi-tournament MC streak just to not only not break it but contend as well. I think Dufner does just that this week and gives himself a huge boost heading into the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Who is even playing this week? Seriously, though, after WGC-Bridgestone and PGA Champ back-to-back weeks with several guys also playing in the RBC Canadian Open the week before that and The Open the week before that, the Wyndham is a rest week for most ahead of the Northern Trust and FedExCup playoffs.

Looking through the tee times, I’m going to have to settle on … Webb Simpson. Should Webb win this week, it would be his second of the year, which seems outrageous, but he’s been quite well all season with 6 top 10 finishes.

I’m not sure why he’s playing this week considering he’s 12th in the FEC standings and just finished T19 at the PGA (which was a pretty good performance considering it was actually only 9 strokes behind Brooks).

Anyways, that’s who I’ve got this week, but don’t throw money on it and if you do…DON’T BLAME ME WHEN YOU LOSE IT!
