WGC Match Play picks, check out our brackets

D Money

As if it’s not hard enough to pick a winner on the PGA Tour week in and week out, match play is even more of a crapshoot. While the rule change made it a little less unpredictable, it’s still one 18 hole round where anything can happen. While my pick this week (DJ) isn’t a splashy or exciting pick, some of the matchups and potential matchups have the chance to be extra juicy.

In the group stage, we get Spieth vs Reed. After Reed’s little “rant” Sunday I can’t imagine what those two will talk about for 18 holes. Looking at the potential matchups in the knockout rounds, we could be looking at Phil vs Rahm in the Round of 16 and Rory vs Phil in the quarterfinals.

No matter who wins this week, one thing is for sure. The Match Play is going to be fun to watch and something crazy will almost assuredly happen.

The Stiff Shaft

Like D Money said, picking a winner every week is already hard enough in golf … now there’s a bracket? COME ON!

With that being said, DJ is an obvious pick with his success in this event last year with a win and in 2016 when he finished T5. However, after watching Rors become en fuego with his putter last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, I have to believe that is going to continue. His confidence is soaring right now and with the Masters looming and guys like Phil and Tiger (among many others) playing well, Rory knows he needs to show that he’s still the Rory that we watched win four majors.

Rory it is!

How fun is that Spieth-Reed match going to be?!?! Also, a possible Phil-Rahm match makes me very excited.
