Report: U.S. Open Will Be Postponed

Add the U.S. Open to the list of golf tournaments that won’t be held as originally scheduled. At least that’s according to a report by Mark Cannizzaro of the NY Post.

Per the report,

Sources with knowledge of the United States Golf Association’s plans told The Post on Thursday night that Winged Foot has been informed the tournament will not take place in June as scheduled. The plan is for the tournament to remain at Winged Foot, but to be played later in the summer.

The 120th U.S. Open, which was scheduled to be played June 18-21 at Winged Foot, now  joins the Masters and PGA Championship in being delayed.

This adds to the long list of golf events that either won’t be held at all or will be held at a future date.

The PGA Tour cancelled all events on all their tours through the PGA Championship in the middle of May. As of now, the next scheduled Tour event is the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial May 21-24.

Last week, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order stating that 100 percent of the non-essential work force to stay at home. As a result, Winged Foot has been indefinitely closed.

The USGA has not confirmed the report yet and have stated they will make a formal announcement by the middle of April.
