Phil Mickelson Nearly Aces Par 4 at CJ Cup

A week doesn’t go by on the PGA Tour, European Tour, or Korn Ferry Tour where we don’t witness a hole-in-one during an event. It’s gotten so commonplace that an ace during a pro event rarely even elicits any sort of response.

What about a hole-in-one on a par 4 though?

While club and ball technology have rendered most golf courses defenseless from pros, an ace on a par 4 is still one of the rarest things in golf. On Friday, (Thursday night for those of us in the U.S.) Phil Mickelson nearly delivered just that.

Phil teed off on the 353 yard par-4 14th and, as you can see from the video below, clanked his tee shot off the flagstick:

Where was Bones to pull the pin?!

Phil tapped in for eagle on his way to a second round 72. He heads into the weekend at 2-under, 11 shots back of leader Justin Thomas.
