We’re quickly approaching the second major of the 2019 season, but first, we have the Wells Fargo Championship and AT&T Byron Nelson. This week, at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC, the line-up is pretty stacked.
Here’s a look at how we’re doing overall this season.

Up first…
Rory McIlroy
We are betting the chalk at this week’s Wells Fargo and we gotta tell you, we like our chances.
Rory McIlroy is a 6/1 favorite and is playing arguably the best golf of his career. Plus the fact he’s won this event twice and is the all-time money leader at Quail Hollow. Yeah. We definitely like our chances.
McIlroy has been streaking in 2019. He’s finished top-9 or better in all of his 7 starts, excluding the Masters. Maybe he’ll eventually figure Augusta out, however a T21 doesn’t remotely fit the way his been playing. But we digress.
He did win the Players in March so that’s got to count for something, even though it’s NOT a major.
He also leads the tour in strokes gained: off-the-tee and strokes gained: tee-to-green which is nice. Rory.
So hot right now.
Rickie Fowler
I’m taking Rickie because he won his first PGA Tour event at Quail Hollow back in 2012 and is eight for eight in cuts made in his trips to the course. He has also finished T4 in 2016 and T5 at the 2017 PGA Championship.
Fowler hasn’t played since the Masters, where he finished T9, but he’s already got a win under his belt this season at the Phoenix Open and has yet to miss a cut.
Webb Simpson
Despite one large feline taking a pass on this week’s event, this field is STACKED. However, there is one player in the field that has a bigger home field advantage than anyone else and it’s not even close.
Not only is Webb Simpson a Charlotte resident, his home club also just happens to be Quail Hollow, home of this week’s event.
Does he have an overly great track record at the event? No. Do I care? I do not. Give me the guy with the home cooking this week to finally get a win on his home track.
