It’s been quite the month for Lucas Bjerregaard.
It all started last month at the WGC Match Play when he essentially turned himself into a household name when he defeated Tiger Woods Tiger Woods 1-up in the quarterfinals. While he lost to Matt Kuchar in the semifinals, his defeat of Tiger and the 4th place finish was an impressive introduction to the majority of American golf fans.
Well, for those that still aren’t familiar with Bjerregaard, you might want to go ahead an familiarize yourself with the Denmark native, because on Monday he officially accepted Special Temporary Membership for the remainder of the 2018-2019 Tour season.
The only current Tour member from Denmark, Lucas will now be able to accept unlimited sponsors invites with his new membership status. While he is not eligible to compete in the FedEx Cup playoffs, all FedEx Cup points that he would have earned up to this point will immediately be applied should he win an event before the end of the regular season.
Bjerregaard is currently ranked 44th in the Official World Golf Ranking after his T21 finish two weeks ago at the Masters. With his membership, the number of active international Tour players is now at 90.
