Somehow, Justin Thomas has quietly managed five top 10’s this season in 10 events. I say quietly because is anyone really talking about how well he’s played over the last month and a half? Sure, we could look at Thomas’s last three events and say, “Well, he hasn’t finished higher than T24 since February, but that wouldn’t be a good way to approach his play.
Thomas seems like the odd man out in this top five. However, he ranks fourth in strokes gained on approach, fourth in SG tee-to-green, and third in SG total. He is the only one of the top four players in strokes gained total that hasn’t won this season (Xander Schauffele is fourth and has two wins this season. He made my sleepers list).
There’s no real way to guess how Thomas will play this week at Augusta. He’s only played in the Masters three times, what I can tell you is that he is trending towards a top 10 and top five finish.
