I started thinking about who I would pick as a sleeper to win the Masters during the WGC-Dell Match Play, and while there are a couple of names that jumped right out at me, there were a few others that seemed more like a long-shot.

We’ve got one more tournament – the Valero Texas Open – to go before the Tour heads to Augusta where Patrick Reed will attempt to defend his green jacket. So, without further ado, here are five early sleepers.

This list will be updated next week after the Valero Texas Open.

Paul Casey

Age: 41
Odds:
 +2500
Best Finish: T4 in 2016
2018 Finish: T15
2019 Wins/Top Finishes: 2 – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T3 – WGC-Mexico Championship, Win – Valspar Championship

Paul Casey has done just about everything but win at the Masters. In 2018 I argued that he’s one of the best golfers yet to win a major and I could argue that he doesn’t even deserve to be on this list as a “sleeper.”

Over the last four years, Casey has finished T6, T4, 6, and T15. Augusta National suits his game, that’s a given at this point, and with a win at the Valspar Championship last month as well as a second-place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, he cannot be overlooked.
