When it comes to sports “news” programs, it doesn’t get much better than HBO’s Real Sports. The show regularly features stories from all facets of the sports world. From major news stories involving household names from the sports world, to even the most obscure ones, Bryant Gumbel and the rest of the Real Sports crew does a fantastic job of bringing those stories to the audience.
While golf doesn’t get a lot of coverage on Real Sports, there have been, on occasion, a golf related story that has made the cut. One of them was this feature on David Feherty from 2016:
It’s no secret that over his career, Feherty has been one of the most polarizing voices in all of golf. It has also been no secret, largely due to him being so open about it, that Fehrety has long suffered from addiction.
Bryant Gumbel and Real Sports has chosen to do a follow up of sorts with Feherty since their 2016 piece and on Monday we got a little sneak peek of what to expect.
As we learned in just this short clip, it would appear that Feherty had a slight relapse involving alcohol after his son Shey passed away in July 2017.
Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel will air this Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
