PGA Tour to allow shorts during practice rounds and pro-am events

The PGA Tour has stated that players can now wear shorts during practice rounds and pro-am events.

This is a welcomed change, for sure.

Golf is often played during the hottest portion of the year in some of the hottest climates of the U.S. Why shouldn’t pros be able to be comfortable while they practice the game they play?

However, they shouldn’t be allowed to wear shorts during competition rounds. This is golf, and we have a stodgy, stuck-up image to up-hold.

Also, other than their ability to hit ridiculous shots and win millions doing so, the fact that they wear pants during competition sets them apart. It screams, “WE’RE PROFESSIONALS!”

If you disagree, that’s fine, but this…

looks more professional than this…
