Francesco Molinari Might Have Won the Open, but Eddie Pepperell Won the Day

Francesco Molinari finally won his first major Sunday after going bogey-free with rounds of 65 and 69. It was one of the most impressive performances coming down the stretch in a major. It was even more impressive when he did it playing alongside Tiger Woods who stepped onto the 11th tee box Sunday with the lead in a major again. Needless to say, Sunday was full of excitement and crazy storylines.

The real winner of Sunday though was Eddie Pepperell, with finished his final round before the leaders even teed off.

Pepperell shot a Sunday 67 to not only play his way back into contention but at one point it looked like it might have been good enough for a playoff. It’s how he went about doing it though that was even more impressive.

You see, Pepperell was not happy with his Saturday 71. Just like the rest of us, he decided to go out and forget about his bad day by having a few drinks to relax and unwind. We will let Eddie tell you how the rest of the night went.

Now let’s face it, we have all been there. We have all had that night where we have had a few too many and had to go into the office the next day nursing a hangover. Pepperell though went out and shot a 67 in the final round in a major and nearly won it. That’s why, despite Molinari winning the Claret Jug, Eddie Pepperell won the day.
