Jordan Spieth claims he just wanted to “Send it” on the first hole

Jordan Spieth is currently 9-under and tied for the lead at The Open after a 6-under third round.

Spieth opened his third round with a beautiful drive on the par-4 first hole that rolled just to the edge of the green. He proceeded to drain the putt for eagle and immediately vault into contention.

After his round, Spieth spoke with Steve Sands, who asked what he was thinking when he decided to attempt to drive the green.

The answer?

Spieth also informed Steve that he doesn’t get paid to announce, but he’ll continue to do it if asked.
