Brooks Koepka Becomes Just the 7th Golfer to Go Back-to-Back at the US Open

After Friday’s round it seemed like a forgone conclusion that Dustin Johnson would win the US Open. His game appeared to be about as good as we had ever seen with his win in Memphis and his first two rounds at Shinnecock.

Unfortunately for DJ though, golf tournaments are 72 holes and not 36.

His steller play over the first two days evaported on the weekend as he gave away his what seemed like an insurmountble lead within the first 6 holes on Saturday. That made way for the likes of Tommy Fleetwood, Daniel Berger, Tony Finau, Justin Rose, and Brooks Koepka to get back into the mix and in the case of Koepka, win his second consecutive U.S. Open.

With the win, Brooks becomes just the seventh golfer to go back-to-back at the U.S. Open and the first since Curtis Strange did it in 1988 and 1999.

Tiger Woods hasn’t done it. Jack Nickalus hasn’t done it. Arnold Palmer didn’t do it. Brooks Koepka now has. Something tells me too, that this won’t be his last.
