PLAYERS Championship Picks

Programming note: We are on site this week at TPC Sawgrass for the Players Championship so be sure to check this space, as well as our social media accounts, for plenty of coverage from the event. Now, on to who we like.

D Money

Even before he picked up the win this past week at the Wells Fargo I had Jason Day picked for this week. So, either last week’s win was a good omen for me, or a curse (with how my picks have gone so far this year it will probably be the latter). Day is obviously no stranger to this course and while he hasn’t had the greatest success at TPC Sawgrass he did win the 2016 event as part of a multi win season. I think he does the rare back-to-back and wins again this week.

I’d love to go off track and pick someone no one would ever think would win this event, but this week…after listening to Rory, I’m going to roll with him.

Since 2012, McIlroy has finished in the top 10 several times and although he finished T35 last year, his game is much better this year. Obviously, he’s already got one win under his belt and although he has struggled with his putter, it has worked well enough for him in several instances … including at Augusta where he made it into the final pairing on Sunday.

This year will be McIlroy’s year at Sawgrass. He knows the course, knows he doesn’t have to be crazy aggressive and try to out drive guys, and is more patient with his game.
