Shriners Hospital for Children Open Picks

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…unless you are on the PGA Tour.

This week the Tour makes their annual tour stop in Sin City for the Shriners Hospital for Children Open. New to the field in Vegas this year is Jordan Spieth who may, or may not, added this week’s event as punishment for coming in under the number of required events last season. Here is who we are liking this week:

DMoney

By now we all know the story with Spieth. Didn’t qualify for East Lake last season and as a result, finished with not enough starts to meet Tour requirements. Whether you believe he is playing in Vegas this week for the first time in his career as a form of punishment or not, he is showing up. So, if he’s going to make an appearance, how about win it. We have no previous history to go off of in this event for Spieth so my reason behind this pick is that he took the last few weeks, got his game right, and is going to make a statement this week with a win.

Once again we’re making picks for a wrap-around tournament that no one will watch or cares about. I’m not entirely sure why the PGA Tour insists on having this portion of the season other than to give a few other guys who may not win events a chance to earn their cards for a few more years.

Jordan Spieth is playing this week, and as DMoney hinted, it’s probably because he didn’t play enough events last season so he feels like he has to step it up this year so he isn’t paying a fine.

Joining Spieth is Gary Woodland, Rickie Fowler, Webb Simpson, and Tony Finau, however, I’m going to pick my favorite golfer … Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau has a horrible Ryder Cup appearance and went 0-3, but he did win back-to-back FedExCup events and has had plenty of time to rest up since.
